BUDA, Texas — The City of Buda has unveiled a new 55,000-square-foot Municipal building this week.

It was scheduled to open in May but had several delays. The Buda assistant city manager said the delays were largely due to the ordering and delivery of some custom made furniture, such as the greetings desk and the library desk.

The whole municipal complex was part of a $55 million bond approved by Buda voters in November 2014.

The complex features a community meeting space, offices, Council chambers and the Buda Economic Development Corporation.

The city is looking for ways to use the old city hall and the city hall annex, and asked residents to submit their ideas. This will also be the new home for the public library.

The move of nearly 16,000 books is scheduled for next week and it should open up Aug. 6.

A grand opening and tours of the new buildings is scheduled for next month.
