AUSTIN, Texas — Texas' largest 10K race is almost here.

The Austin American-Stateman's annual Capital 10K attracts tens of thousands of runners, from novice to elite, to take part in the state's oldest annual race.

Over 22,000 people signed up to run the six-mile course on Sunday, April 8, along with 30 of those runners who have participated since the race began 41 years ago.

Aside from promising fun, fitness and satisfying the urge to beat a personal record, the Cap10K supports a different charity every year. For 2018, its proceeds will go to the Austin Parks Foundation, which is responsible for maintaining the city's run and bike trails and other outdoor spaces.

Our Victoria Maranan consults with Dr. Skyler Clark of Baylor Scott & White on what you can do to get ready for race day.
