AUSTIN, Texas - The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) confirmed that it, along with other law enforcement agencies, conducted an “area-wide enforcement operation” in and around Austin Wednesday morning.

According to a statement from the DEA, the operation focused on disrupting and dismantling a narcotics distribution ring.

During a press briefing Wednesday afternoon, agents said more than 30 people were indicted on drug-related charges. Agnets said cells operating out of the Austin area had distribution points in seven states.

Agents in several jurisdictions seized 148 pounds of crystal meth, 56 gallons of liquid meth, 62 pounds of cocaine, 13 pounds of heroin and $400,000 in cash. Agents said the distribution center was located in the area of N. Lamar Boulevard and Ferguson Drive in northesat Austin.
