AUSTIN, Texas — A writer on the controversial InfoWars website was shot and killed at an Austin apartment complex early Monday morning.

Police responded to a call about a shooting at an apartment complex at 2336 Douglas St. located in the East Riverside neighborhood late Sunday night, according to a release from the Austin Police Department. When police arrived, they found Jamie White lying on the ground of the parking lot with gunshot wounds.

After being rushed to the hospital, White was pronounced dead at 12:19 a.m. on Monday.

That same day, Alex Jones went on his podcast and announced the passing of White. Jones also issued a statement on the InfoWars website, partially blaming Austin District Attorney Jose Garza for White's death.

“We are deeply saddened to inform you that InfoWars Reporter Jamie White was brutally murdered around midnight Sunday night due, in part, to the policies of the Soros Austin, TX D.A. Jose Garza,” wrote Jones. “We pledge that Jamie’s tragic death will not be in vain, and those responsible for this senseless violence will be brought to justice. Jamie’s important work will be carried on through InfoWars, our readers, and our cherished listener.”

The initial investigation showed that White was shot and killed in the parking lot of the apartment complex in which he lived, according to police.

Detectives now believe the suspects were attempting to burglarize White’s vehicle when he interrupted them.

There have been no arrests made at this time.
