AUSTIN, Texas — Austin police are still seeking the public’s help finding a man wanted for theft.

In these new images seen above, the suspect is cashing three more cashier's checks at a Speedy Cash store in Austin. This case is titled Fraud by Passing. The suspect goes by the alias of Clayton.

Police have received no leads or new information since the original release went out on Jan. 10, 2018.

According to police, on Oct. 28,2017 a woman saw an ad on Craigslist for an RV for sale. She contacted the man and made arrangements to buy the RV. She mailed the man a cashier’s check and made a plan to meet to get the RV, but the man never showed.

Anyone with information is asked to call Region 1 Property Detectives at 512-974-5320.

APD is also urging the public to be vigilant to always use aware when buying anything online and take the following precautions:

  • Research the seller as much as possible
  • Arrange to meet in person, if possible, in a public place and take a friend with you
  • Be aware when asked to mail a cashier’s check – this is a red flag for a possible scam
  • If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is
  • If something doesn’t seem right, trust your instincts
