AUSTIN, Texas -- The Austin Police Department held an information event for women looking to get involved in law enforcement.

This is second year of the listening session where female officers share their experiences with other women. The session has already grown to 80 attendees compared to about 60 last year. One officer said these sessions are a stepping stone to get more women involved.

"Within our department we have 1,300 sworn police officers and out of that we only have about 106 female officers. So our goal today is to provide more information to the women in our city and even around the country. We need more women and that's our goal here today,” said Ofc. Martha Cameron, of the Austin Police Department.

The session covered topics such as the hiring process, training to become an officer, and ended with a Q&A segment.
