MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ohio — Due to the expected winter weather, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has announced traffic pattern changes to I-75 between Needmore Road and Leo Street.

They said that, due to the amount of precipitation that can be expected, they will be temporarily closing the contraflow lane that takes southbound traffic “effective late morning to early afternoon Sunday, Jan. 5, and will remain closed for the duration of the storm.”

“Clearing snow and ice in a contraflow lane is challenging regardless of the amount of precipitation, but given the potential for a significant accumulation, we have determined the closure necessary to ensure the safety of both the traveling public and our crews,” said ODOT in a press release.

When going through work zones, ODOT is asking drivers to be cautious and employ winter driving habits in additional to making room for road crews including plows.

“We will continue to monitor the weather closely and will reopen the lane as soon as it is clear and safe for travel,” the release reads. “Thank you for your understanding and patience as we prioritize safety during this time.”
