Due to travel and weather concerns, the Class AA state football championship between McQuaid and New Rochelle has changed.
Originally set for Sunday at 3:00 p.m., it will now be played Saturday night at 8:00 in the Carrier Dome.
The Knights’ strength throughout the postseason has been their line play. McQuaid's defensive line has helped limit opponents to fewer than 100 yards rushing over the last five games.
On the other side, the Knights offensive line has spearheaded their ground attack with over 200 yards rushing per game.
The group is led by 300 pound senior tackle Quinn Bergeron.
"We're just coached that way from coach Parisi. Hitting the sled over there…he always tells us break the sled because the school has to buy us a new one,” Bergeron said. “You going in hitting every guy on the defensive line like you want to knock them back. You got to get a head snap and you just have to manhandle your guy."
McQuaid and New Rochelle are both perfect so far this season at 12-0.
