People will now be able to find boxes containing Naloxone in Monroe County parks.
The new boxes will include the nasal spray along with instructions on how to use it.
County officials say this is part of a continued effort to save lives during the opioid epidemic. The county's IMPACT Team has been connecting with people in crisis in the community, as well as offering services, support and treatment to those affected by addiction. The team has been eductating the public about the signs of addiction and how to respond to someone who is experiencing an overdose.
"Providing greater access and availability is critical to our efforts to reduce the opioid-related deaths and to ensure that lives around our community are saved," said Monroe County Executive Adam Bello.
For the first half of the year, the county distributed more than 16,000 kits, which is more than the total amount distributed last year.
