A young couple has been sentenced for the death of the woman's mother in Greece several years ago, according to Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley's office.

Hannah Thomas, 19, and Richard Avila, 18, were sentenced to 25 years in prison and five years of post-release supervision for their role in the shooting of Thomas' mother back in December 2020.

Prosecutors said the mother, 36-year-old Ottilia Piros, was found shot dead in her Greece home. Then they said the couple fled and were captured after a traffic stop in Missouri.

Both were extradited to New York to face homicide charges.

This case was investigated by the Greece Police Department, with assistance from the Monroe County Crime Lab and the Saint Robert, Missouri Police Department.
