ROCHESTER, N.Y. — For a second day Tuesday, authorities searched an area surrounding Durand Lake where a passerby discovered human remains.

A dive team from the New York State Police searched a marshy, mucky area at the northwest shore of the lake, which is located in Durand Eastman Park. On Monday, the remains were found. Authorities have not been able to identify the remains.

The discovery happened about a mile from the Irondequoit home, where last week, a woman was found dead. The dismembered body of Lisa Shuler, 37, was discovered after a friend called police, concerned that she had not been seen or heard from in several days.

Police continue to search for Shuler’s boyfriend, Seth Larson, 40. Larson was last seen in Maryland a week ago. Irondequoit Police say he is a person of interest. Authorities say Larson was pulled over by police in that state for a vehicle and traffic stop, on the same day Shuler’s body was discovered.

Irondequoit Police would not say of the two cases are connected. Authorities are awaiting results of an autopsy, which police chief Alan Laird says could be finalized as early as Wednesday.

"At this point, what we can say is we don't have an identification on the human remains," said Irondequoit Police Chief Alan Laird. "We're working with the Monroe County Medical Examiner's Office in order to get that identification, so we're not able to say if it's related to Culver Road or not."
