Three people were injured and a restaurant was damaged after a triple shooting along a busy stretch of Monroe Avenue Monday, the second shooting in the area in less than a month.

“They didn’t know what it was, and the next thing you know the glass shattered at them and just made them all drop,” Plum House manager Tricia Siebert said.

What You Need To Know

  • A triple shooting along a busy stretch of Monroe Avenue Monday was the second shooting in the area in less than a month

  • The front window at Plum House was shattered and three people were injured, one critically

  • No one inside was hurt, but employees were shaken

  • While the window is boarded up, it’s back to business as usual

It was an ordinary evening for employees at Plum House, until they heard what sounded like gunfire. The front window was shattered by bullets that also left a 31-year-old man with critical injuries, and injured two teens, according to Rochester Police.

No one inside was hurt, but employees were shaken.

“[One of my employees] went home and cried all night, and I mean I just I felt so bad for her,” Siebert said. “It’s just, I don’t know, it’s just such a scary situation.”

Siebert said she’s thankful it wasn’t worse for her employees, and with the window boarded up, it’s back to business as usual.

“This was something just completely random and unique, like it was shocking,” Siebert said. “But I don’t think it’s not going to stop us from the future. We’re not going to change our hours or close the doors.”

Back on April 9, Matthew Williams, 29, was killed near Mark's Texas Hots on Monroe Avenue, and his wife and another person were wounded. Sohn Travis, 32, and Kyrique Massey, 31, have been charged with murder.

“They’re aberrations. I don’t think it’s going to be the wild, wild west on Monroe,” Chris Nakis said. “And as these things happen, we’ll survive. Everyone just pulls on through.”

Nakis is the co-owner of Dogtown across the street from Plum House, and said the recent violence is unusual, but not terribly concerning for business.

“We’re always busy, people are always going to come here,” Nakis said. “We have good food, a good atmosphere here and we’re generally busy."

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call 911.
