Former Rochester radio hosts Kimberly Ray and Barry Beck have issued a public apology after making racist comments on their program. The hosts were fired by iHeartMedia following the broadcast.

The comments were made as the pair were discussing the night of protests that started peacefully, but ended in looting and damage in the city of Rochester. The protest was one of hundreds that took place across the country in response to the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Floyd died while in police custody.

The hosts were talking about the individuals who were caught on camera beating a woman who tried to protect a storefront on Monroe Avenue from looting. Some on social media claimed the woman could be heard in the video using a racial slur against the men.

In a video apology, Kimberly and Beck say their comments were "hurtful and offensive." In addition, the hosts called their comments "wrong, ignorant, and inexcusable." They also said they are not racist and the apology is not an effort to get their jobs back.
