Around 200 state troopers will be deployed to the Rochester-area to assist with any additional demonstrations tonight, Monroe County Executive Adam Bello confirmed at a press conference Sunday.

Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren and Bello said the governor did not hesitate to assist the region when asked for assistance.

In addition, a curfew will be in effect Sunday night from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Monday.

Bello asked the community to stay safe by staying home tonight.

Warren gave an emotional speech at the press conference, stating outside agitators who were not involved with the Black Lives Matter rally early Saturday afternoon started the destruction.

Warren held up photos of people who appear to have taken part of the vandalizing that took place in the city.

“So let me be clear, that the people that stepped up to have that peaceful protest yesterday were not the ones that started the agitation,” she said. “Now, these people set a trap. And our community fell in it…”

Warren said the unrest was organized, and some members of the community “jumped on board, and fell for the bait.”

Before the press conference, the city began cleanup efforts.

City firefighters and private contractors started assessing damage, securing buildings and removing trash.

Over 2,000 volunteers met at the Frontier Field VIP Parking lot at 10:00 a.m. and were given garbage bags, PPE and other cleaning supplies to clean up areas most in need.
