Monroe County Supreme Court Justice Matthew Rosenbaum has officially resigned.
In December, Rosenbaum was relieved of all judicial duties by the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct following allegations of misconduct.
Court documents released Wednesday say Rosenbaum, who served as a Supreme Court justice in Monroe County from 2005 to 2019, was under investigation for allegedly making improper and abusive personal demands of court staff.
The documents also say he, either directly or indirectly, conveyed that staff members could lose their jobs if they didn't comply. Rosenbaum's alleged actions were blamed for creating a hostile work environment.
The documents confirm Judge Rosenbaum vacated his office as of December 31, 2019, and has agreed not to seek or accept any judicial office at any time in the future.
Robert Tembeckjian, Commissioner of the state Judicial Conduct Commission, released the following statement:
“The matter against Judge Rosenbaum was of such magnitude that, notwithstanding his resignation, it was important to make sure he would never return to the bench.”
Judge Craig Doran, the administrative judge for the 7th judicial district, was out of town Monday. Regarding the release of the stipulation, he issued a statement:
“We have ensured the integrity of the court system and of the investigative process so that litigants and attorneys have confidence that their matters are being heard in the timely and thorough manner that the public should expect from their courts.”
