It’s a "wicked" good next season of shows at the West Herr Auditorium Theatre and it’s sure to have audiences singing and even dancing along.
The Rochester Broadway Theatre League announced the 2025-26 M&T Bank Broadway season Wednesday night.
Opening the season in October is "Clue," a show that will have audiences guessing until the end.
"Spamalot" opens in January, returning to the stage in Rochester for the first time in 20 years.
Another popular show in the upcoming season is "Wicked."
Another popular show in the upcoming season is "Wicked."
Broadway performer Allison Bailey, who plays Glinda in the show, surprised audiences with a performance of the song "Popular" from the musical. She said she's excited for audiences to experience the magic of Wicked.
"There's so many incredible costumes, lighting and the music but there's also so much heart to the story," said Bailey. "That's what is most important. Everyone can identify with one of the characters they see on stage."
In addition to the fan favorites, there’s also a handful of new shows making their Rochester debut. These include "Kimberly Akimbo," a coming-of-age story that won Best Musical at the Tony Awards. "A Beautiful Noise" tells the story of Neil Diamond and features his popular songs. "Juliet" shows audiences what would have happened next if Juliet hadn’t ended it all over Romeo. It features iconic pop hits such as "I Want It That Way." "Suffs" is a show highlighting the American women who fought tirelessly for the right to vote.
RBTL presenter Albert Nocciolino said there’s something for everyone this season.
“We like to say that all of them will be great shows and we think our audiences will love them," Nocciolino said. "We’ve been selling out all of our shows. It’s extraordinary. We’re looking forward to a very successful 2025-26 season."
Closing out the 2025-26 season is a crowd favorite, as "Hamilton" returns to the theater for the fourth time in November.
