ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Basketball League (TBL) is redefining the path to professional basketball with 50 teams nationwide, including the Rochester Kings, offering players a platform to chase their dreams, showcase their talent and advance their careers to the NBA, G League and international teams, while bringing high-level basketball to communities.
“It’s a lot of NBA scouts that watch the TBL. A lot of scouts from overseas — China, Japan, Turkey and Great Britain — all follow the TBL, even the G-League," said Knowledge Allah, the owner of the Rochester Kingz.
The Rochester Kingz are introducing a professional basketball experience to the city. From mascots to sponsors, the league operates with the same level of professionalism as the NBA.
“This league is one step closer to turning a dream into reality. The referees are real, the stats are real, the skills around the game and the coaches in the stands are real,” said Dr. Jason Willis, coach of the Rochester Kingz.
For players who may not have followed a traditional path to professional basketball, TBL offers an alternative outlet.
“Just because you didn’t take the usual route — college, overseas — there’s always an outlet, and the TBL is giving them that,” said Anthony Flowers, head coach for the Rochester Kingz.
The team features a mix of local and out-of-state talent. Caleb Darrett, a player from Florida, didn’t miss the chance to showcase his skills.
“I got to the hotel at 2:47 this morning," said Darrett.
“I got exposure from playing overseas, and this is a great opportunity to move up and reach my dreams,” said Deovian Peterson, a player with the Rochester Kingz.
Players also benefit from top-notch care, similar to what professional athletes receive.
“My role is focused on injury prevention. So, how can we develop pre-practice, pre-game routines to help prevent injuries?” said Jason Touri of Mana Performance Therapy.
The Rochester Kingz are driven by passionate players and coaches eager to bring excitement to their community.
“My hope is that everyone finds success, joy, and can play together,” said Jean Toussaint, a player with the Rochester Kingz.
“I want my players to be the best Kings they can be — at home, in their community and on the court,” added Flowers.
Through its structure, care and opportunities, The Basketball League is bringing professional basketball dreams to life, creating a bright future for athletes in Rochester and beyond.
