BRIGHTON, N.Y. — The curtain's up at OFC Creations Theatre Center for the second season of its Broadway in Brighton series. The series of six professional productions starts with The Boy from Oz the Musical.
It's been 20 years since this production last took the stage in New York state. It's the musical biography of the late singer/songwriter Peter Allen. This professional series includes shows that are not typically performed in Rochester.
"The Broadway in Brighton Series takes big shows that people have heard of, but don't get to see very often," said Eric Vaughn Johnson, executive and artistic director at OFC Creations Theatre Center. "This year we have Westside Story. It's been 10 years since Westside Story was done in Rochester. Gypsy, 10 years ago. Jersey Boys 10 years ago. So, these are big shows that people have heard of or have a connection to or know the music and love the story, but they are a little too hard to produce without bringing people from New York City or bringing people from out of town. We are trying to make them big spectacles for people to attend."
Discounted series subscription packages for all six productions are on sale now or you can purchase individual show tickets. OFC Creations is located at 3450 Winton Place in Brighton.
