Each pass and kick is bringing the Flower City Union closer to the championship title.
After being ranked the lowest seed in the National Independent Soccer Association playoffs, the Flower City Union beat the number one team in the entire league, securing them a spot in the championship game.
"To go to the number one seed on their home turf and knock them out was really a great moment for all us,” said head coach Jordan Sullivan.
Right now for Coach Sullivan and the team, it feels like their hard work is finally paying off.
"We’re going in with confidence. As we should, because we’re coming off two big wins," said player Luke Ferreira. "Going in with confidence and fighting for 90 minutes.”
After a slow start to the season, that confidence is key as the team gets ready for the match on Saturday.
"It's a chance for us to go into a new season basically and prove that we’re just as good as anyone else in the league," said Ferreira.
To do that, the team is focusing on themselves in these last practices by staying loose and sharpening their skills.
”It's a great opportunity for us to put our names on the map and bring a lot of respect back to Rochester soccer," said Ferreria.
The Flower City Union take on the Michigan Stars Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
