ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The United Way's annual Day of Caring returned for 2021.
It was canceled last year for the first time in 35 years due to the pandemic.
General Motors volunteers were back at Valley Manor Assisted Senior Living on Thursday to get the residents ready to enjoy the summer. For 15 years, GM volunteers have helped refurbish the grounds by repainting outdoor furniture, cleaning up the patio and gardening.
"It's very exciting," said Michelle Scipioni, executive director of Episcopal Senior Life Communities. "So when we got the email that they were going to be joining us this year. We were very excited. The residents look forward to it and it gets us ahead in our week. So it was very exciting to learn that they were returning this year."
The United Way of Greater Rochester brings nearly 2,500 volunteers together to help more than 100 local not-for-profit organizations.
