ELMIRA, N.Y. — ​Social justice protesters who’ve led Daniel Prude demonstrations in Rochester are in Elmira to shed light on a COVID-19 outbreak at the Elmira Correctional Facility.

Free The People Roc hosted the protest.

As of Friday, the Department of Corrections cited 459 cases, about a third of the facility’s capacity, the most in any prison in New York state right now.

Visitations were suspended Wednesday.

Free The People Roc organizers say they want mass incarceration to end during a pandemic.
