WEBSTER, N.Y. — Webster police say they arrested two women in their 20s during a Black Lives Matter protest early Monday evening.

Police say in a release that the two protesters arrested were charged with disorderly conduct and allege that protesters were in the street, harassing drivers, and ignored repeated warnings to stay on the sidewalk.

Spectrum News had a crew there earlier in the evening.

The group is calling out some of the town's elected officials.

Protesters are upset with Town Supervisor Tom Flaherty after he shared his displeasure with a protest that took place at District Attorney Sandra Dooley’s house.

Flaherty later told Spectrum News his concern wasn’t with the act of the protest itself, but the location of it.

The protesters say they will not accept silence from suburban communities in the fight against racism.
