ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A Henrietta woman took it upon herself to protest outside of the Public Safety Building Monday morning after RPD officers used pepper spray on a 9-year-old girl last Friday.

Rachel Sherman says she was heartbroken and livid after seeing what happened to the girl.

She has a 9-year-old daughter and tells Spectrum News that she couldn’t stand to see a child being treated as "less than human."

"So, I’m out here today to tell the RPD that they are corrupt and that they should feel shame for what they’ve done," she said.

"If her daughter was walking down the street, it never would’ve happened. It never would’ve happened. The difference in privilege between white people and people of any other ethnicity is so astronomically different, it’s so unfair. It breaks my heart," Sherman said.
