Looking for a fun way to discover the Genesee River and get a little exercise along the way? Rochester Pedal Tours may be just the ticket.
The 90-minute cycle boat tour runs from May through mid-October. It cruises down the river from the Port of Rochester.
Owner Phil Sazal said it's a great way to get out on the water without the worries and responsibility of having your own boat.
"The boat fits up to 18 people. There are 12 peddling stations but not to worry, the motor is always going,” he said. “You can pedal as little or as much as you want on here. You can bring all your own beer, wine, food, and snacks. There’s a speaker to play all your own music and we are the ones doing all the driving."
Though high water levels on Lake Ontario have been known to impact local businesses, Sazal said that hasn't been the case for him.
"We are in a privileged position because we do have floating docks where our tours begin and end," Sazal said. "We go at such a slow speed that it does not affect us when they lower the speed limit."
