ROCHESTER, N.Y. — It’s been more than a year since families were able to enjoy a ride on the Dentzel Carousel at Ontario Beach.
Monroe County Executive Adam Bello rang the bell to commence the carousels reopening for its 115th season.
There will be free carousel rides through Memorial Day. For the rest of the season, the carousel will be open Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 7 p.m.
"We want to encourage and invite families all over the region to come out and participate and reconnect," Bello said. "And also just again to be able to do something that is iconic that I know a lot of us who grew up here in Rochester grew up coming down to the beach riding the carousel, getting Abbotts, going over to Bill Gray's. It's just quintessential Rochester."
After the holiday weekend, single tickets can be purchased for $1.00.
