A Rochester native who became a trailblazer for women in professional wrestling will be enshrined in the World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Fame Saturday night.
Joanie Laurer, better known to wrestling fans as Chyna, will be posthumously inducted in the Hall of Fame as part of the D-Generation X faction.
Laurer, who was born in Rochester in 1969, attended Penfield High School before embarking on a career in pro wrestling that saw her become the only woman to capture WWE's Intercontinental Championship, as well as capturing the Women's Championship.
She earned the moniker "The Ninth Wonder of the World" for her exploits in the ring as well as her bodybuilding physique.
She died in 2016 at age 46.
The WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on the eve of pro wrestling's biggest show, WrestleMania.
The program will be aired on the WWE Network at 7 p.m.
