ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester City School District superintendent is facing accusations of harassment, officials said.

The RCSD Board of Education states that an internal complaint has been filed against three district employees, including Superintendent Dr. Lesli Myers Small.

The Board says the complaint comes from another district employee.

Myers-Small is carrying on as usual, including releasing her weekly video message Friday afternoon.

Rochester School Board President Van White on Thursday said the district has referred the allegations against Myers-Small to an outside law firm.

“The only thing I'm confirming is that we received allegations of harassment, and as a result of receiving those allegations, we referred the matter to an outside private law firm to ascertain the truth and or accuracy of those allegations,” White said. “I'm repeatedly using the phrase allegations because that's what they are. And I'm not commenting on words like sexual harassment, because it will be the duty of the outside law firm to determine what in fact happened.”

White is not identifying the employee who filed the complaint, says he will not comment further, and that all questions should be referred to the law firm hired to investigate.

The firm, Woods Oviat Gilman LLP, confirmed to Spectrum News 1 that it’s handling the case, but would not comment further.

Myers-Small became RCSD superintendent in May 2020, following the resignation of Terry Dade. She is the district’s seventh superintendent in the last decade.

Myers-Small did not immediately return a request for comment.
