Wayne County has a new sheriff.

Republican Robert Milby defeated Democrat Stephen MacNeal on Tuesday. Milby received 66% of the vote to MacNeal's 33%.

Milby succeeds Sheriff Barry Virts, who has served in the position since 2009.

Virts announced in September 2020 that he would not seek re-election.
