A former Walworth Town Board member was arraigned in Ontario County on Wednesday after police say he tried to entice a minor in Canandaigua for sex over social media.
Karel Ambroz is charged with second-degree attempted criminal sex act, authorities say. Court officials say he pleaded not guilty and was released on his own recognizance. He's due back in court on August 11.
Police say the minor that Ambroz was talking to was actually an undercover detective.
Officials say Ambroz resigned from the Walworth Town Board following his arrest. The board is also dealing arrest of another one of its members.
Cody Phillips, according to investigators, was arrested this week in another case and is charged with course of sexual conduct against a child and endangering the welfare of a child.
State police say the 39-year-old had repeated sexual contact with a child over several years.
