GATES, N.Y. — A teenager has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Richard Sciascia in Gates earlier this month.

The Monroe County District Attorney's Office says 16-year-old Edgar Tolentino was arrested by Gates Police and arraigned in Youth Part Court.

He is currently being held without bail.

Gates Police say Sciascia was driving on Bull Road on April 7 when Tolentino and another suspect attempted a carjacking, shooting the 71-year-old.

The vehicle believed to be used in the attempted carjacking was located by Rochester Police later that same day.

Gates Police tell Spectrum News a teenager taken into custody with the vehicle was not Tolentino. That 17-year-old was later released.

There is still no word yet if that person is connected to the case.
