PENFIELD, N.Y. — The man convicted of tampering with evidence in connection with the murder of his father in Penfield has been released from prison.
Alex Rideout was granted parole earlier this month.
Alex, his brother Colin, and their mother Laura were all charged in connection to the 2016 death of Craig Rideout.
Alex was convicted of destroying evidence in the case and had served 3 1/2 years of a possible 2 3/4 to 8 year prison sentence at Midstate Correctional Facility.
The New York State Department of Corrections says after an interview with the parole board, Rideout was granted release on Tuesday with up to four years post-release supervision.
Two years ago, he was denied early parole because the board said at the time he had not fully processed the magnitude of his crime.
Alex was acquitted of a murder charge. Colin and Laura were both convicted of murder. Colin was sentenced to 27 years in prison, while Laura received a sentence of 41 years.
