PENFIELD, N.Y. — The man convicted of tampering with evidence in his father's murder in Penfield has been granted parole.

Alex Rideout, his brother Colin, and their mother Laura were all charged in connection with the 2016 death of Craig Rideout.

Alex was convicted of destroying evidence in the case and has been serving 2 2/3 to 8 years in prison.

The department of corrections says after an interview with the parole board, Rideout was granted a release date of March 30 or earlier, with up to four years of supervision.

Two years ago, he was denied early parole because the board said at the time he had not fully processed the magnitude of his crime.

Alex was acquitted of a murder charge.

Colin and Laura were both convicted of murder. Colin was sentenced to 27 years in prison, while Laura received a sentence of 41 years.
