Your holiday donation will double if you drop money into one of the Salvation Army's red kettles on Friday.

The organization says an anonymous local donor is partnering with its Red Kettle Campaign — offering to double any in-person or online kettle donations. This falls on the campaign's $20 On The 20th Day promotion when people are encouraged to donate $20 in a last-minute effort to raise funds locally.

“We’re extremely grateful for this donor who’s turning every dollar into two dollars on Friday, Dec. 20,” said Maj. Rick Starkey of The Salvation Army of Greater Rochester. “We’re counting on the kindness of those in our community to consider donating $20 on this day as it will go twice as far to help our neighbors in need.”

The Salvation Army says the community’s financial support during the holidays allows it to be able to assist more than 10,000 local individuals throughout the year with its emergency family services, food pantry, homeless shelters and youth programs.

Volunteer ringers will be at more than 30 locations around Rochester from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Friday. Red Kettles can be found at Walmart Stores, Wilmorite malls, JCPenneys, Hobby Lobbys, Tops Friendly Markets, Trader Joes and more through Dec. 24.
