A new farmers market is coming to downtown Rochester next month.

The Rochester Downtown Development Corporation and Rochester's food business incubator, the Commissary, announced the launch of the Downtown Rochester Farmers Market on Tuesday.

The new market will be located at Parcel 5 and is designed to serve the downtown Rochester community by providing residents and visitors easy access to fresh produce and other locally made food and drinks.

The new market opens on July 10 and will run every Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. over 16 weeks. Along with vendors and food trucks, there will also be performances, games and other activities each week.

In partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension, MVP Health Care will host four cooking demonstrations on July 17, Aug. 14, Sept. 18 and Oct. 9 from 4-6 p.m. Attendees can learn ways to prepare local and seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables. Recipe cards will be available to take home.

"Ensuring that everyone has access to healthy food is critical to our community’s well-being because good nutrition can lead to a healthier lifestyle,” said MVP Health Care's Chief Marketing and Sales Officer, Deborah Brundage. “MVP Health Care is thrilled to support the Downtown Rochester Farmers Market, addressing food accessibility head-on and nurturing our neighbors’ health and well-being. By continuing to invest in Rochester and provide access to events like the Farmer’s Market, we are furthering our mission to build healthy communities throughout our region.”
