There are still blooms to be smelled in Highland Park, but the 2024 Rochester Lilac Festival has come to an end and the vendors and tents have broken down for the season.

After days filled with flowers, live music and food, you can help keep things growing at the park. That's where the Monroe County Parks Department's tree memorial program comes in.

You might have noticed as you walked through the rolling hills of Highland Park that the lilac bushes and trees tagged with plaques not only name the tree species or variety of lilac, but they're also named in honor of someone. It's part of a memorial program to support additions via monetary donations only to county parks in honor or memory of loved ones.

Memorial additions to Highland Park include new tree or shrub plantings and adoptions of existing trees.
