Former Rush-Henrietta sprinter Lanae-Tava Thomas came home from Los Angeles Wednesday to celebrate a Gold Medal.
Thomas, wearing the USA uniform for the first time, won the 200m at the PanAm Under-20 Track and Field Championships in Costa Rica last month.
An 11-time New York State Champion in the long jump and sprint events, Thomas just wrapped up her first season at Southern California where the Trojans placed second as a team. She was a part of the NCAA Champion 4 X 100m Relay team.
She says she is gearing up for the U20 World Championships next July in Nairobi, Kenya but the U.S. Olympic Trials are a month earlier.
"I will definitely get faster this year so I'll see about that, but U20 Worlds is definitely the goal right now, but yeah, just trying to get faster," said Thomas who was surprised by her family and friends at the airport.
