ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Xerox has announced the unexpected passing of its CEO.

The company says John Visentin died Tuesday from complications of an ongoing illness.

In a statement, Xerox said in part:

"The Xerox family is profoundly saddened by this untimely event and extends its heartfelt condolences to John's wife, his five daughters and his family."

Visentin led the company since 2018. He took over following the resignation of former CEO Jeff Jacobson, and Xerox ending its merger deal with Fujifilm.

Visentin was 59 years old.
