ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Greater Rochester Teen Book Festival returns to Frontier Field for its first in-person event in four years. The free festival Saturday is focused on teen readers.

The festival is put together by not only public and school librarians, but also avid teen readers who want to connect, celebrate and promote reading.

  • The Greater Rochester Teen Book Festival is an opportunity for public and school librarians to dedicate an event solely to teens to encourage reading some of the best titles aimed at young adults

  • Teens can meet their favorite authors, attend author presentations and request authors’ autographs in books of their choice or on a TBF T-shirt

  • Attendees can hang out with their friends and other teens that like to read

  • Guests can also purchase books and TBF merchandise and enter to win in a raffle drawing

Brighton library co-director Caitlyn Stahovic-Barnes and the Greater Rochester Teen Book Festival team cannot wait to share some of the best teen-focused books. Book authors from all over the country will be at Saturday's event to answer questions and help inspire the kids.

“It is great because a lot of teens come and they think, you know, maybe no one else like me likes to read or likes to write or anything like that,” Stahovic-Barnes said. “Right there we see so many new friendships forming. They meet old friends and they get to be up close and personal with their favorite authors that we treat like rock stars because they are rock stars.”

The book festival is free and open to anyone. The focus is on teens in grades 6-12. You’ll get a chance to meet authors, meet other teens who enjoy reading and shop for books.

The Teen Book Festival is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Frontier Field. Hipocampo Children’s Books from Rochester will have books available for purchase. A portion of the sales will be donated back to TBF.
