FREDONIA, N.Y. — The Village of Fredonia is under a state of emergency due to the water crisis within its water system.
Since Thursday, residents have had to boil their water before using it.
The Chautauqua County health department says the system has high turbidity levels, which means the water has too many particles and may be cloudy.
Mayor Essek announced that the village will assist with the distribution of potable drinking water until the situation ends.
The state of emergency will last for 30 days or until rescinded.
