The city of Olean has declared a snow event Thursday through Saturday. Parking restrictions will be in place to allow snow plows to get through.

“We received reports from the National Weather Service of a pending storm that could bring heavy snow to our community and are declaring the Snow Event to make sure that the plows are able to get through our streets during the storm,” Mayor Bill Aiello said in a statement.

The city says vehicles will be prohibited from parking on primary streets between 3-7 a.m. Parking will also be prohibited on sub-primary streets between 12-7 a.m. Parking on secondary streets is prohibited between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

A list of primary, sub-primary and secondary streets can be found on the city's website.

The city says those found in violation will face a $75 fine.

“We haven’t had much snow in the past two years and there will be residents throughout the City who need help with snow and ice removal, I ask neighbors to please help those who are unable to remove the snow,” Aiello said in a statement. “In addition the Olean Fire Department requests that during the storm, residents clear out around the hydrants to allow access if necessary.”

Officals say the snow event expires at 4 p.m. Saturday.
