Central Hudson said 16,000 people were still without power in Ulster County as of 7:15 p.m. Sunday from the winter storm that brought damaging ice, sleet and snow to the region. Central Hudson expects 95% of services to be back by noon on Monday.

Power was knocked out for nearly 50,000 people on Friday.

Gov. Kathy Hochul sent members of the National Guard Friday to help restore power.

Central Hudson says crews worked into the night Saturday to restore power to 60% of customers. The company says as of Sunday at 8:30 a.m., about 25,200 customers are without power in Ulster County and 43 customers are without power in Sullivan County.

“Central Hudson will have nearly 900 line and tree professionals working to address approximately 770 outage locations on Sunday. This constitutes the largest number of mutual aid line workers Central Hudson has acquired in our history,” said vice president of electric engineering and operations Ryan Hawthorne. “Conditions for Sunday are cold, but favorable and I believe we’ll make significant progress in restoring service today and into the night.”
