The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office says one of its patrol vehicles was involved in a fatal car-pedestrian crash Thursday.

A statement from the sheriff's office says it happened at the State Route 9G-Elks Lane intersection in Hyde Park around 7:30 p.m. Thursday. A patrol vehicle struck a pedestrian, who was taken to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The deputy in the vehicle was uninjured, per the sheriff's office; the identities of the deputy and the victim have not yet been released.
