U.S. Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney hosted his second town hall of the weekend and things got a little bit heated.

Several climate change activists asked Maloney about his support for the local Danskammer power plant. They said it ran contradictory to his support for the Green New Deal.

"He needs to come out strong against Danskammer and he needs to push for an alternative proposal,” said Andrew Pezzullo, organizer for Hudson Valley Fod & Water Watch. “One that gives jobs to Newburgh, one that saves our air and water.”

Rep. Maloney responded.

"There's a lot of people who are concerned about climate change, they're concerned about whether we've got a real plan to lower emissions in time to do us some good. I have a plan, I've written legislation that would do that,” he said.

The Beacon City Council passed a resolution against the $1 million proposal to rebuild Danskammer last month.

Maloney did discuss his support for expanding senior's Medicare and red-flag laws and universal background checks for guns.
