If a mid-season nose dive in the standings wasn’t enough, Syracuse football now faces uncertainty under center.

Garrett Shrader sat out the 4-5 Orange’s loss to Boston College on Friday, and coach Dino Babers said he’s unsure if Shrader will be available for the rest of the season. Shrader has thrown for 1,508 yards and nine touchdowns this season with a 136.74 QB rating.

In Shrader’s place, Carlos Del Rio-Wilson completed 7 of 17 passes against BC, but for just 37 yards, and he was intercepted four times. The Orange — now 0-5 in Atlantic Coast Conference play — had just 246 yards of total offense in the loss, having the ball for just 17 minutes and 44 seconds to Boston College’s 42:16.

Compounding the offensive issues: Del Rio-Wilson is also dealing with an injury, suffered in Friday’s loss. Babers said Monday that the Orange have to find ways to help the QB out if he’s the starter moving forward.

Syracuse will attempt to stop a five-game losing streak Saturday at Yankee Stadium when it faces 2-7 Pittsburgh. The Panthers have lost their last three games since an Oct. 14 home win over No. 11 Louisville, but two of those losses have been to Top 25 teams.

Kickoff is 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the Bronx.
