"It's a great day for business, not only on that day, on the day of the Boilermaker, but throughout the whole week before," said Donna Mutolo, a waitress at The Marr-Logg Restaurant.

Subs, salads and Utica specialties sell fast during Boilermaker season at Franco's Pizza and Italian Deli in North Utica.

"They'll always come here [saying], 'Oh the Utica Greens, the Chicken Riggies, we got to have those.' They sell out extremely fast. That's the only problem. It's so hard to keep it in because it's just going out so quickly," said manager Amy Aceto.

The Marr-Logg Restaurant and The Bagel Grove get a lot of business, too.

"It's crazy," said Mutolo. "We're a little more staffed on that day."

"We're very busy. We have both in-town people as well as out-of-towners, maybe folks who have lived here or family or sometimes just strangers make their way to us," said The Bagel Grove owner Annie Wadsworth.

Over at O'Scuggizzo's Pizza, pizzas practically fly out of the ovens on race day.

"I got people waiting in line when I get here at nine in the morning for Boilermaker. ... Boilermaker week I do the pasta, the salads, the chicken wings. Then on Sundays, it's all pizza," said manager Joushua Barres.

It's not just the boost in business that staff at local eateries look forward to on Boilermaker weekend, it's also knowing that they'll get to see some familiar faces.

"Families bring their kids in and then their kids bring their kids. It's just tradition," Barres said. "It's good."

"I have a lot of them say, 'I've been coming here for so many years and I always get to see you.' It's great to see the different customers from out-of-town that still come in every year," Aceto said.

19,000 people have registered for Boilermaker races this year.
