The West Genesee Board of Education has asked Superintendent Chris Brown to step down from his position according to a statement released Tuesday.
Brown will officially resign on Wednesday, January 22.
“The Board wants to thank Dr. Brown for his 11 years of leadership and for his dedicated service,” said West Genesee Board of Education President Roberta Herron in the statement. “The Board acknowledges the Superintendent’s cooperation in bringing this matter to an expedited conclusion.”
Both the Board of Education and Brown have agreed to enter a Separation Agreement, which will be considered by the board Wednesday.
Brown was at the center of a recent scandal involving a district employee. In a social media post, it claimed Brown was involved in a relationship with the employee.
"I do not and did not have a romantic relationship with any other employee,” said Brown in a letter that was released to the district earlier this month. “I treat all employees equally and always have."
Parents in the district were surprised by the events that occurred.
"Surprising I think it caught everyone by surprise. I think everyone in the community was not expecting this because he’s such a prolific figure." said Elias Elias, a Parent in the District.
The Board announced that Dr. Jody Manning has volunteered to serve as the Acting Superintendent of Schools for the district.
