1. Travel experts forecast double digit increases for flights

Officials say this is expected to be the busiest Memorial Day of travel in nearly 20 years. Travel volume out of Albany, Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo is expected to be high and to continue throughout the weekend. The Transportation Securtity Administration says since Memorial Day weekend last year, travel is up across the board.

2. North Syracuse middle school PTO investigating missing funds

The Roxboro Road Middle School PTO, in the North Syracuse Central School District, reports that their bank accounts were left nearly empty by a previous board member. Board minutes show they are more than $35,000 in debt, jeopardizing future planned student activities and field trips.

3. N.Y. judge imposes $15 million fine on unlicensed cannabis shops owner who says he gave free samples

The owner of seven unlicensed cannabis shops in New York whose promotions included an Easter egg hunt has been fined more than $15 million after state officials complained he repeatedly ignored notices to stop operating without approval, authorities said. A state Supreme Court justice in Lyons, New York, imposed the fine against David Tulley on Wednesday. Acting Justice Richard Healy penalized Tulley 90% of his gross sales from February 2022 to May 2023 as well as $10,000 for each day he operated without licenses.

4. New secretary of state and construction authority leader confirmed by the New York Senate

The New York Senate confirmed two former state lawmakers Wednesday to lead the Department of State and the state's public finance and construction authority. Senators confirmed Walter T. Mosley as secretary of state and former Secretary of State Robert J. Rodriguez as president and chief executive officer of the Dormitory Authority of the state of New York. Both are former assemblymen.

5. Report: Flag carried by Jan. 6 rioters displayed outside house owned by Justice Alito

An "Appeal to Heaven" flag was flown outside Alito's beach vacation home last summer. An inverted American flag — another symbol carried by rioters — was seen at Alito's home outside Washington less than two weeks after the violent attack on the Capitol.

6. Justice Department, states file antitrust lawsuit against Ticketmaster parent Live Nation

The suit, filed in federal court in Manhattan and joined by 29 states and the District of Columbia, alleges that the company's practices stifle competition and drive up prices for fans.
