Ice Castles Lake George is officially back next Monday.

What You Need To Know

  • The original opening date for Ice Castles was Jan. 27

  • Warmer than average temperatures and rain was the reason for the delay

  • Future rain or warm temperatures may cause closings or restrictions

After a very successful opening campaign last year, Ice Castles Lake George is back open to the public Monday, Feb. 6 after an almost two-week delay.

The popular winter attraction was supposed to open Jan. 27, but warmer than average temperatures and rain leading up to that date had the towers of ice melting into puddles. It wasn’t just warm; it was the fourth warmest January on record.

Right on cue, the coldest air mass in the past few years is slated to move in Friday through the weekend. This should allow the ice attraction to be in tiptop shape for opening day on Monday.

Along with the led light embedded ice towers, ice slides, thrones and fountains, there will be a new ice bar called the Polar Pub where you can order alcoholic drinks.
