Peak color is shrinking, but there are still some areas you should check out this weekend.
It has been an amazing fall, not just for foliage, but weather wise as well. We're looking at another mainly dry weekend for your foliage hikes, walks, and scenic drives.
We'll get more in depth with the forecast for this weekend in a moment, but first let's talk about who's going to see the best color this weekend!
It's no secret the best of the season is behind much of the state, which some will say is a good thing for the Adirondacks and Catskills. It'll mean less traffic both on the roads and on the hiking/walking trails.
That being said, there is still some solid color in parts of the Catskills this weekend, while not so much in the High Peaks Region of the Adirondacks.
The last spot in the Adirondack Park that is hanging onto some really good color is the Lake George region. If you plan on hiking there this weekend, set your alarm early.
As you can see in this photo, a bunch of leaves have dropped. With that being said, there is still great color to be seen this weekend in the Capital Region.
Heading an hour or two south of Albany is where some of the best color in the state can be found this weekend. Expect the Hudson Highlands and Minnewaska State Park to be jam packed this weekend.
If anyone needs a partner in crime to drink wine and beer in the Finger Lakes region this weekend, I'm your guy. Shoot me an email, I'll bring snacks and pay for gas.
The Bills are pretty much a lock against the Jets this Sunday, so why not head out for some leaf peeping before it's gone?
Vibrant foliage is pretty much done across much of New England, however you'll still be able to catch some nice color in the valley locations.
The forecast for this weekend is once again looking pretty nice.
A moisture-starved cold front moving across the state will bring a few sprinkles and showers Saturday, but nothing worth canceling outdoor plans over. It will usher in a drier, cooler air mass for Sunday with a good deal of sun expected.
As always we love seeing photos from your fall adventures. Feel free to share them with us on social media or here!
