“Footloose” the musical is now playing at Mac-Hadyn Theatre in Chatham.
Based on the cult classic movie from the 1980s, the high energy musical translates perfectly to the stage. The story follows teenager Ren McCormick who doesn’t receive a warm welcome in the small town of Bomont when he moves there with his mom from Chicago.
He learns that dancing has been outlawed by a controlling preacher. As Ren tries to plan a senior prom, the two find healing and forgiveness. "Footloose" is filled with emotion, dance and the Billboard chart topping songs from the original soundtrack.
“You’re going to have a good story, sing songs you know, hear ones you don’t and just have a good time,” said Matthew Harper Stevenson, who plays Ren.
“Footloose” is playing through this Sunday, July 16. For more information on tickets and showtimes head to www.machaydntheatre.org.
